Villajoyosa – a colourful seaside town by the Mediterranean Sea

Villajoyosa (La Vila Joiosa) is a coastal town located between El Campello and Benidorm, about 35 km from Alicante Airport. The town has preserved a more authentic Spanish character than large tourist resorts, combining everyday local life with a seaside climate and a calmer atmosphere.

The symbol of Villajoyosa is its distinctive colourful houses standing directly by the beach and promenade. In the past, their bright colours helped fishermen recognise their homes from the sea; today they form one of the most recognizable skylines on the entire Costa Blanca coastline.

The best-known beach is Playa Centro — wide, sandy and located directly next to the town centre and promenade with restaurants and cafés. Nearby you will also find quieter beaches such as Playa del Torres and Playa Paraíso, offering a more private environment. The beaches provide good infrastructure and regularly receive the Blue Flag certification.

Lifestyle and infrastructure

Villajoyosa functions all year round. The town offers schools, medical centres, shops, a local market and a TRAM connection to Benidorm and Alicante, making daily life possible without the need for a car.
