Punta Prima – a coastal district between Torrevieja and Orihuela Costa
Punta Prima is a coastal area located on the border of Torrevieja and Orihuela Costa, approximately 45 minutes from Alicante Airport. Thanks to its location, it combines immediate proximity to the sea with access to the infrastructure of a larger city. It is one of the most permanently inhabited areas of the southern Costa Blanca, which means life continues here even outside the holiday season.
The district has a primarily residential character. Modern apartment buildings, residential complexes with communal swimming pools and new developments dominate the area, while properties on the seafront often offer sea views. Unlike many typical tourist destinations, restaurants, cafés, shops and everyday services operate here throughout the entire year, and a large part of the population consists of permanent residents.
The most recognisable place is Punta Prima beach — a small sandy bay with gentle access to the sea and a promenade. Nearby there are coastal cliffs and walking routes leading towards Torrevieja and Playa Flamenca. The beach has lifeguards during the season and basic facilities, making it suitable for everyday use during most of the year.
Punta Prima stands out for its convenient transport connections and comfortable daily living. There are bus stops connecting the area with Torrevieja and other parts of Orihuela Costa, taxis are easily available (local rides cost around €10), and coastal walking and cycling paths allow movement without a car. The immediate surroundings include numerous commercial areas, restaurants, cafés and service points, as well as supermarkets, pharmacies and gyms. Within a few minutes’ drive you can reach Zenia Boulevard shopping centre, Torrevieja hospital and international schools. Torrevieja provides access to public offices, the marina and port, while Orihuela Costa offers golf courses and additional leisure facilities.
