El Albir – a peaceful seaside town in Alfaz del Pi
El Albir is a coastal town belonging to the municipality of Alfaz del Pi, located on the northern Costa Blanca between Altea and Benidorm, about 45 minutes from Alicante Airport. Although it lies very close to well-known resorts, it has a completely different character — it is primarily a place for everyday living rather than a typical holiday destination. Thanks to a large number of permanent residents, it functions all year round and does not become empty outside the summer season.
The town stands out for its international community of residents, many of whom come from Northern Europe. As a result, there are medical services, private clinics, international schools, shops and restaurants operating throughout the year. El Albir is often chosen by people planning to relocate to Spain and by remote workers.
One of the biggest advantages of the area is its terrain. Unlike many towns on the northern Costa Blanca, El Albir is almost completely flat, allowing daily life to be carried out on foot or by bicycle. Along the coast runs a long seaside promenade with restaurants and cafés, forming the centre of local life. Playa del Albir beach is pebbly with very clear water, and from its end begins a popular walking route leading to the Faro del Albir lighthouse within the Serra Gelada Natural Park.

El Albir is especially suitable for those seeking a comfortable life by the sea — with the possibility of daily walks, cycling and access to services without the need to frequently use a car. It is a location chosen mainly for permanent residence or longer stays rather than purely for holidays.
