San Miguel de Salinas is a town located a few kilometres inland from Orihuela Costa and Torrevieja, about 10 km from the beaches and approximately 40–45 minutes from Alicante Airport. It sits on a small elevation, which provides views from many parts of the town over the salt lagoons of Torrevieja and La Mata and, on clear days, even the Mediterranean Sea.
The town has preserved a typically Spanish character — with a central square, church, cafés and restaurants open all year round. Unlike seaside resorts, the atmosphere is quieter, which is why it is often chosen by people looking for everyday living close to the coast but away from the summer crowds.
