Pilar de la Horadada – a coastal town near the beaches of Mil Palmeras
Pilar de la Horadada is a town located at the southern end of the Alicante province, close to the border with the Murcia region, about 50 minutes from Alicante Airport and around 35 minutes from Murcia Airport. Unlike typical tourist resorts, it has preserved a more local Spanish character and functions year-round as a normal residential town.
The town centre is located about 3 km from the sea, while the coastal areas include Torre de la Horadada and Mil Palmeras. This allows residents to live either in a quieter urban setting or directly by the beach.
The coastline is among the sandiest on the Costa Blanca South. The beaches are wide, bright and have very gentle access to the sea, making them especially popular with families with children. The best known are Playa de Mil Palmeras, Playa de las Higuericas and Playa del Conde in Torre de la Horadada. There are promenades, restaurants, beach bars and cycling paths, and many beaches regularly receive the Blue Flag certification.
Pilar de la Horadada functions throughout all 12 months of the year and offers full infrastructure: schools, medical centres, sports facilities, supermarkets, restaurants and weekly local markets. The town is quieter than Torrevieja or Orihuela Costa, which is why it is often chosen by people relocating permanently.
Cycling routes along the coastline and through farmland are popular, and nearby you will also find the golf courses Lo Romero Golf and Las Colinas Golf & Country Club.
