Jávea (Xàbia) – an exclusive location on the Costa Blanca North
Jávea, also known as Xàbia, is one of the most prestigious residential areas on the northern Costa Blanca. Located between Denia and Moraira, at the foot of Mount Montgó and directly on the Mediterranean Sea, it lies about 100 km from Alicante Airport. For years the town has been considered a more exclusive alternative to the region’s large resorts — it has developed more slowly, maintains building height restrictions and preserves the natural coastal landscape.
Unlike cities such as Benidorm or Torrevieja, Jávea is not a mass-tourism destination. Playa del Arenal is the main town beach with a gentle entrance to the sea, while Cala Granadella and Cala Portixol are among the most picturesque coves on the entire Costa Blanca, known for turquoise waters and excellent snorkeling and diving conditions.
Its position between mountains and sea makes the area particularly attractive for active residents — popular activities include hiking in the Montgó Natural Park, coastal cliff routes and water sports.
Jávea functions all year round, although the pace of life is calmer than in major resorts. Restaurants, cafés and services remain open in winter, and the international community is well integrated with local residents. The town is often chosen by remote workers and buyers seeking a high-quality second home.
