Los Alcázares is a coastal town located on the Costa Cálida in the Region of Murcia, directly on the shores of the Mar Menor lagoon. Unlike many holiday resorts, it is not only a tourist urbanization but a functioning residential town that operates throughout the year, where daily life is based mainly on permanent residents rather than seasonal tourism.
One of the main characteristics of the area is its location on the Mar Menor — a shallow and very warm lagoon separated from the Mediterranean Sea by the La Manga peninsula. The water is calm and almost without waves, which allows the beaches to be enjoyed for most of the year. This makes the area particularly comfortable for people who value regular seaside walks and everyday swimming, not only holiday stays.
The town is mostly flat, which makes it easy to move around on foot or by bicycle. Along the coastline runs a long seaside promenade with restaurants, cafés and resting areas, forming a central meeting point for residents throughout the year. For this reason, Los Alcázares is often chosen by people looking for a relaxed lifestyle by the sea without the need to rely on a car every day.
In recent years the town has become one of the most dynamically developing residential areas in this part of the coast.
A significant number of new residential developments are being built in the surrounding area, including modern villas, bungalows and apartment complexes. The area works well for year-round living, a second home or rental investment, also outside the summer season, thanks to the presence of permanent residents and nearby golf courses.
