Gran Alacant – a coastal residential area near Alicante and the airport
Gran Alacant is a large residential district administratively belonging to the town of Santa Pola, located about 15 minutes from Alicante Airport and around 20 minutes from the centre of Alicante. It sits on a gentle elevation above the sea, which provides views from many points over the coastline, the Bay of Alicante and Tabarca Island.
It is not a traditional town with a historic centre, but a modern residential area made up of urbanisations, townhouses, bungalows and apartments. As a result, Gran Alacant has a distinctly residential character and functions throughout the year — most residents live here permanently rather than only during the holiday season.
The main advantage of the location is the proximity to one of the most natural beaches in the region — Playa del Carabassí.
